European Solar Decathlon 2010

Apricus was a proud sponsor of the 2010 Solar Decathlon. The Tong Ji Shanghai University team finished 11th out of 17 schools competing in the European Solar Decathalon in Madrid Spain in June. Apricus supplied the domestic hot water system for the Bamboo House, comprising of an AP-20 evacuated tube collector, 250L storage tank, pump and controls.

Team manager Ms. Wang Li Zhen stated, "The system performed extremely well, providing all of the hot water to meet the daily requirements of the house without the need for any additional boosting."

Now House Toronto, Canada

Apricus, in conjunction with our distributor Generation PV, was a proud sponsor of the first house in the Now House Project. The project, located in Topham Park, Toronto, turned a 60-year-old WWII house into a near zero energy home - one that produces almost as much energy as it uses.

The house was retrofitted with an Apricus solar thermal system to provide hot water for domestic use and a radiant floor heating system in the basement floor.

"We will enjoy the benefit of two Apricus solar thermal systems. These are high efficiency, low cost solar hot water systems that work all year round. Unlike flat-plate collectors, or evacuated tubes with flat copper foil, the Apricus System uses a cylindrical collector which takes advantage of the sun all day, not just when it's overhead."
